So educational (learning why we call cows 'beef' for example), so gross (those Victorians!), so intense and inventive (they ate a cockatrice!) and even the recent decades are really interesting - who'd have thoght our diets would change so dramatically in our own lifetimes? I am of course as drawn to Sue Perkins as a straight monkey could be, so that's an added bonus. Hard to pick a favourite - Seventies perhaps, or Wartime (our first).
